Twin brothers Israel and Ishmeal Codner, each 11 months old, were
caught by Jermaine Shirley as the fire spread through their parents block in the
Williamsbridge section of the Bronx, the New York.
Reports indicated that the US Postal worker - Shirley, was on his way to work when he smelled smoke in the building and climbed atop of a building extension nearly two stories
below, and yelled to the father of the twins to drop the babies. Asked what he was
thinking at that point, Shirley replied, "Nothing, I was just ready to
catch." Both parents also made it out alive.
