former Rwandan intelligence Officer, who ran to South Africa amidst unrest in his
homeland after falling out with President Paul Kigame was found dead in a Johannesburg
hotel room today. He was found strangled with a rope and a bloodied towel.

Karegeya was stripped of his ranks after falling out with President Paul
Kigame. Karegeya, 53, had lived in South Africa for six years as a political asylum
seeker as one of the four former top aides of President Kigame who were
sentenced to long jail terms in absentia by a military tribunal, and his death
has been linked to Rwanda’s government.
