Suspended 1 Year For Hugging His Teacher.

Sam McNair is a 17 year old senior at Gwinnett County High School, Georgia, one of the schools top football and lacrosse player. He is now suspended for a year and may not graduate on time all because of a hug.

According to the New York Daily News, McNair walked up to his teacher, her back turned to him, and gave her a hug, putting his arm around her shoulders and nestling his head into her neck. A school hearing officer says his actions violate the Gwinnett County Public Schools’ sexual harassment policy - 

School officials say McNair did more than just hug the teacher. They claim that when he put his head on the back of her neck, he kissed her. On the tape, you can see the teacher shove him away with her forearm. McNair says he never kissed the teacher and he doesn’t believe his actions warrant this type of punishment. McNair says, “Something so innocent can be perceived as something totally opposite.” It get interesting  and the video will help narrate the rest of the story  and judge for yourself after the cut.

McNair was suspended for a year meaning he won't be able to graduate on time. And his mother April McNair says it could affect her son’s future. “He’s a senior. He plays football and was getting ready for lacrosse, and you’re stripping him of even getting the opportunity of a full scholarship for athletics for college.”

But McNair’s teacher says that she had previously warned him about hugging her. His mother, April says that if her son had been reprimanded for hugging in the past, the school should have informed her about it. Sam McNair said he was only trying to cheer her up. “You never know what someone’s going through, you know? A hug might help.”
