Clay Aiken rose to fame as runner up to Reuben Studard about 10 plus years ago on America Idol. Now, he has a new plan, he is considering running for US Congress in the district of North Carolina - seriously.
According to report by Washington Blade, Clay Aiken is "actively" laying the ground
work for a political run and has consulted with political operative Betsy
Conti, who worked for former Vice President Al Gore and former North Carolina
Governor Bev Perdue.
He is probably a long shot from winning as he will have to go through a lot of scrutiny from a heavily "bible Belt" Southern State of North Carolina. It is a known fact that Clay is openly gay and has spoken out about anti-bullying legislation. whether he decide to run or not is up to him but I personally doubt if he is ready for the kind of scrutiny that politics requires. Unlike a singing show - American Idol, he will have to really convince a lot of people to vote for him this time - albeit - campaigning and all.

Let's see how far this will go. I doubt if he will run.
Good luck.
Don't be surprised if he wins...anything is possible in the good old USA.
