It is official, Rolando is the World Footballer of The Year 2013. The Portugal and Real Madrid striker beat his closest rival, Argentina and Barcelona player Lionel Messi as well as France and Bayern Munich player Franck Ribery to win the 2013 FIFA Ballon D'or award.

Barcelona and Argentina's Lionel Messi has claimed the honours over the past three years but had to make way for his La Liga rival, despite his 43 goals in as many matches last year. Ronaldo scored a staggering 62 goals in 52 matches for club and country in 2013 and was hot favourite to claim the prestigious award which he last held in 2008.
